A measure in the sprawling One Big Beautiful Bill Act currently moving through Congress would raise the exemption threshold starting in 2026 to $15 million for individuals and $30 million for married couples—up from the current $13.99 million and $27.98 million. The new thresholds would then adjust for inflation in future years.
