The driver had been offloading a jetski and meant to drive forward when he accidentally put the truck in reverse, backing it into the water, the captain told the Ventura County Star. The driver was able to exit the vehicle before it became fully submerged in the water.

Capt. Carson Shevitz, a spokesperson for the towboat firm, said a Ventura Harbor Patrol unit had been doing its usual sweeps shortly before 11 a.m. when the crew spotted the Cybertruck. It was reportedly quickly rolling backward down a ramp that leads into the water in the 1400 block of Anchors Way, he said.

On Monday around 11 a.m. in the Central Coast city of Ventura, the Ventura Harbor Patrol unit was conducting rounds when the crew noticed a Tesla Cybertruck floating in the harbor.
