The Edmonton Oilers made a reasonable bet signing 29-year-old winger Andrew Mangiapane to two-year contract, with an annual average value of $3.6 million.

Edmonton Oilers fans weren’t the only ones who were thrilled by the Andrew Mangiapane signing. The 29-year-old hit the free-agent market following his lone season with the Washington Capitals, and agreed to a two-year, $7.2-million deal with the Oilers that will carry a cap hit of $3.6 million.

Andrew Mangiapane, the 29-year-old Toronto native, will be a familiar face for Oilers fans as he spent seven seasons playing for Edmonton's provincial rivals the Calgary Flames.
