WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump’s administration on Friday asked the Supreme Court to allow him to resume his downsizing of the federal workforce, while a lawsuit filed by labor unions and cities proceeds.

The Trump administration asked the Supreme Court on Friday to reverse a lower court order that has blocked mass firings and major reorganizations at federal agencies, a case that could have enormous consequences on President Donald Trump’s ability to reshape the federal government.

Justices said the Trump administration can’t use the Alien Enemies Act to expel migrants while litigation continues.
