It’s been a snowy week in Big Bear Valley in California’s San Bernardino Mountains, where 145 feet up in a Jeffrey pine tree, bald eagles Jackie and Shadow are tending to their young eaglets. The first snow came Tuesday morning on March 11.

Jackie and Shadow are now the proud parents of two eaglets who have hatched as thousands tune in to a livestream of an eagle camera feed.

Now all eyes turn to the third egg to see if it develops a pip, the first hole an eaglet makes as it emerges from its shell.

A pair of local bald eagles are looking after three new hatchlings in their nest above Big Bear lake, and an internet camera offers a real-time view of this young avian family. The Friends of the Big Bear Valley organization maintains the Big Bear Eagle Cam which year-round draws thousands of views of the life and times of Jackie and Shadow,
