Back in the early/mid 90s people used them to watch Video CD's, just like the Philips CD-i (even the 3DO and PS1 had VCD add-ons). I personally wouldn't rush out to buy one unless you collect old VCD movies. My Victor V-Saturn came with one already installed and the Hitachi Hi-Saturn usually comes with it too.

Oct 25, 2023 · I discovered how to use sst.exe (sstool) that comes with the vortex fw. From what I saw, it is used to transfer saves from the ss_bup.bin file, which is a copy of the Saturn's internal memory, to the ss_mems.bin, which is the 8MB cartridge emulated by Saroo, creating a slot in the ss_save that simulates the Saturn's internal memory.

Dec 11, 2022 · On PC and my main phone I use the Beetle Saturn Core in Retroarch. Mednafen is the most accurate Saturn emulator there is but the Retroarch core based on it is easier to use. Put the Beetle Saturn core and my actual Saturn in comparison on the same TV and the only way I'd be able to tell the difference is because I'd made the setup.

The Saturn port has all of the Arcade version's sprites -as well as animations- intact. The ps1 version has a weird problem with its screen refresh rate. The Saturn port does not. On the latter, the image quality is very stable. The ps1 version runs at roughly half the frame rate overall compared to the Saturn version.
