Apr 4, 2024 · This is an awful list. It doesn’t take into account vram or even the model it is using. Personally I’d shoot for 2 rtx A6000 GPUs as they still most NVLINK. Having 96gbs of VRAM for a single LLM is crazy.

Jul 7, 2023 · I've been experimenting with llms for the past few months. I feel like I've been held back by lacking vram. I'm considering upgrading to either an A6000 or dual 4090s. The A6000 has more vram and costs roughly the same as 2x 4090s. The A6000 would run slower than the 4090s but the A6000 would be a single card and have a much lower watt usage.

Jun 3, 2023 · In the future, I am probably going to use a secondary pc for remote rendering with the A6000 tho, so I can keep working during the outsourced rendering. TLDR: Using the RTX A6000 and RTX 4090 in the same system works now. Installing is quite the hustle, but doable.

Mar 27, 2023 · Because while the ASUS 4090 strix might set you back $2000, the A6000 is more than twice than, and the ADA A6000 is around 3.5X the cost of the 4090. Are you: A) VRAM constrained, or B) relying on FP64 performance, because those are two of the primary reasons to consider either card (only really if you're VRAM constrained for the non-ADA A6000).

The A4000, A5000, and A6000 all have newer models (A4500 (w/20gb), A5500, and A6000 Ada). A4000 is also single slot, which can be very handy for some builds, but doesn't support nvlink. A4500, A5000, A5500, and both A6000s can have NVlink as well, if that's a route you want to go.
